Big Bang vs. DBSK Small Screen Battle

Big Bang's T.O.P and DBSK's U-Know Yunho will be duking it out on the small screen in October instead of on the Kpop stage! Yunho's new drama will air on the 9th of September while T.O.P's drama IRIS will air on the 14th of October.

Both dramas will be during the Wednesday/Thursday time slot so it will be a direct battle between two of Korea's top idol groups, Big Bang and DBSK. Furthermore, T.O.P & Seungri's 19 will be going head to head with Jae Joong's drama, both of which are scheduled for October.

[NEWS] Yunho U-Know and Go Ara

It has been confirmed that pretty Go Ara will be romancing TVXQ's leader, U-Know Yunho in the new drama Heading to the Ground. She has been cast as the main girl Kang Hae Bin who works alongside Yunho's character.

Go Ara's character, Kang Hae Bin is a soccer agent that wants to be able to be recognized through her own strength in a man's world. She is first captivated by Bong Gun's (Yunho's) kick and although they fight often, he ends up saving her life and they fall in love.

The producer said about Go Ara "She is overflowing with energy and her ability to show emotions is very deep. She is an actress that always gives an attempt at everything and grows in the process. I think that this drama will be able to be a big hit due to Ara. I'm really glad because the drama has become very fresh and entertaining."

Go Ara herself mentioned about her excitement about being selected for the drama, "The script is so much fun that I read all of it up to the 10th episode in one sitting. I'm glad because this character is one that loves and grows throughout the drama."

[NEWS] SMTOWN LIVE’09 Tickets Sold-Out In 5 Minutes

Tickets were sold out on the 23rd of July for the SMTOWN LIVE’09 Concert which is to be held at the Seoul Jamsil Olympic Stadium on the 16th of August 2009. The exclusive tickets that were sold by G-Market were sold-out within five minutes.

TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee and Zhang Li Yin, together with special guests, would be the ones performing on this concert stage, showing a variety of never-before seen performances. An SM Entertainment representative stated, “Although the concert tickets are sold-out every year, the ticket-selling has become more heated because SM Entertainment artistes are mostly active during the summer season.”

U-Know Yunho’s One Day Service for Orphanage : 11 “Endlessly Impressive” Volunteers

Without prior noticement, U-Know Yunho and other 10 people including his father were confirmed to visit the orphanage.

Earlier this year, U-Know Yunho was found to visited his juniors in high school almamater at Gwanggil and deposited 6 million won for student scholarship.

Similar with the scholarship donation he did before, this time Yunho also volunteered without notifying even his agency and contacted the orphanage staff secretly.

Just days after refuting the rumors, it has been announced that 23-year-old DBSK singer U-Know Yunho is indeed making his acting debut in the soccer drama Heading to the Ground [맨땅에 헤딩].

The singer, born Jung Yun-ho, takes on the character of “Cha Bong-kun,” a role recently vacated by Kim Rae-won because of Kim’s mandatory army obligation. To achieve the impossible goal of making it as a national player, the character pours all his passion into realizing the dream. Nikkan Sports Praises DBSK

The Japanese media praised DBSK to be "located near the centre of Japanese music".

On the fifth of July, the Japanese newspaper, Nikkan Sports, wrote an article about the Tokyo Dome finale. It said, "DBSK did not rely on their achievements in Korea to gain success in Japan, but they made their status by working hard" and that "within 3 hours of singing 32 songs, no one in the crowd left".

Nikkan Sports stated that: "After four years of hard work, DBSK has proved that their very existence is important to the world of music by this fabulous performance."

Number of pre-orders for the latest Live Tour DVD reaches the highest record in their history! Popular Korean group, Tohoshinki's photobook and DVD ranked first in sales in 7andy (T/N: Name) shops. Tohoshinki is a 5-member vocal group from Korea. The debuted successfully in Japan in 2005, and their first national tour last year was a huge success, drawing an audience number of over 150,000 people. According to 7&Y.jp, on-line shopping site operated by the same company, Tohoshinki made their place at top 3 of 3 divisions, furthermore, their DVD special book is ranked one place ahead Michael Jackson.

Tohoshinki is a Korean 5 members vocal group who made Japan debut in 2005 and had successfully hold their first nationwide Arena tour last year with 150,000 audiences mobilization. They appeared at NHK festival for the first time last year, and Tohoshinki also had made appearance in Japan CM. THSK and BigBang on Oricon’s weekly ranking [210709]

Tohoshinki and Big Bang, who are currently active in Japan, have drawn notice as they ranked, together, in the Top 10 of the Oricon Weekly Charts.

On the 20th, Oricon released it's weekly charts, with Big Bang ranking at #5 with their 2nd Japanese single "Gara Gara Go!" which was released on the 8th of July. At the same time, Tohoshinki also made the charts, ranking at #7 with their single "Stand by U", which was released on 1st of July, and rising 2 positions compared to the previous week's charts, making the Top 10 of the Oricon Weekly for 2 consecutive weeks.

After Tohoshinki successfully held the last 2 performances of their Japanese national tour at the Tokyo Dome on the 4th and 5th of this month, they are scheduled to participate in the Japanese summer music fest, A-nation, which will be held in August.

[NEWS]Junsu and SNSD loves Super Show II

SNSD and TVXQ’s Junsu who come from the same agency with Super Junior were seen cheering at Super Junior’s concert.

Super Junior on July 18th at 6 pm held their concert entitled “The 2nd ASIA TOUR ‘SUPER SHOW Ⅱ’” at Seoul Olympic Park Fencing Stadium.

Before the concert started, TVXQ’s Junsu was found backstage while SNSD seeked Super Junior after the end of concert, which was recorded by live music programs broadcast at the concert hall.

SNSD looked happy giving applauses in ‘Gee’ performance by Super Junior. Up until the end, the girls didnt move at all from their place.

Super Junior members showed up their thankful heart after they finished the stage, “We tremble to see TVXQ’ Junsu came to our concert. Also thank you too for SNSD to come. They’re Super Junior’s friend and dongsaeng.”

In mean time, Super Junior whose stage was at maximum distance from the audiences, successfully narrowed the gap by performing various performances from strong dance, ballads, and even trot.

The fans who came responded in enthusiastic cheers for all dancing and singing all along the concert, when this best concert was nearing the end, the members’ eyes were filled with tears as they’re so grateful.

Super Junior’s concert started on July 17th for 3 days to the 19th.

In the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, America and over 60 other countries, more than 3,000 people was questioned for the poll, and Jaejoong got #1 for the "Person You Want To Date The Most" by garnering 24.7% of the votes.

Previously, on a show in China, Hero Jaejoong was selected #1 for the category of "Asia's Most Beautiful Men" and on a music program in Japan, he was #3 for "Male singer you want as a lover". These are enough to prove Jaejoong's status in Asia.

Korea's most anticiptated new singer, Taegoon, said that TVXQ's Jaejoong has strong willpower, considering him a real senior.

Last 11th of July, Taegoon held a fanmeeting and concert in Japan, and before this fanmeeting happened, there was a short interview.

- The MV of your debut song "Call Me" had TVXQ's Jaejoong as part of the cast. Please talk about your experience.
I called Jaejoong on the phone and said, "I'm going to film my MV, please do come and help." (laughs) To me, I didn't know how good it was to be cast on an MV, but because Jaejoong was my best friend, I didn't think much about it, but the people around me kept on saying, "Jaejoong is going to be on the MV!" On the day of filming, we filmed, but played then headed home. (laughs)

- With regards to your Japan debut, how will you look at TVXQ and Big Bang activities?
I wish to learn more about Japan's music, therefore, I would like to have people seeing me dance with smiles and happiness. And besides, TVXQ and Big Bang are my seniors (laughs). Calling Jaejoong that gives me another feeling. (laughs) Their song and dance are the best, aren't they? Jaejoong is my best friend, but as an artist, he's my senior (laughs) and I respect him very much much. During the "Call Me" promotions, Jaejoong called and scolded me on the phone. He's always helping me, as a strong-willed senior. For a Korean star to be having such success in Japan, I feel that they're Korea's pride.

Fans of DBSK / TVXQ / Tohoshinki should know the duet song DBSK members Jaejoong and Yoochun sang at Tokyo Dome for “Tohoshinki 4th live Tour 2009 The Secret Code Final." Well, that song will become Hello Kitty’s theme song for the 35th anniversary.

The song “COLORS Melody and Harmony”, composed and written by Jaejoong and Yoochun, was chosen to be Hello Kitty’s image song for the 35th anniversary of the creation of the famous character Hello Kitty and starting from September, the song will be played as the background music in various Sanrio, founder company of Hello Kitty, stores.

“COLORS Melody and Harmony” subject the colors that form Hello Kitty. The colors red, representing friendship, pink, representing cute, yellow, representing heartful, green, representing wish and lavender, which represents sweet, are all subjected. An album release for this event is still undecided.

TOHOSHINKI’s The Secret Code Concert Has Been Praised by Japanese Artists

Popular Japan female singer Suzuki Nae and teen star Yukihiro Takiguchi confessed their love to Tohoshinki in their own blog.

Yukihiro Takiguchi wrote on his blog, “I attended Tohoshinki’s performance at Tokyo Dome. In fact, I should say that I really like them.”

“The songs are good and they have good personalities. And on the top of that, JUNSU’s gag is really funny,”

“I found a great pleasure while was watching Tohoshinki’s performances. It was such great voice and beautiful dance.” Finally he put the last sentence to wrap up everything, “Tohoshinki is the best!”

Yukihiro Takiguchi had just left from all singing activities of his group Nachural and Pure Boys, debuted as actor in “Water Boys 2″ and acted in some dramas such as “How to Create a Perfect Prince”, “Gokusen 3″, and “Tokyo Ghost Trip”.



The former member of idol group AKB48, Suzuki Nae also wrote on her blog on July 4th about her thrilled experience watching Tohoshinki’s concert at Tokyo Dome.

Displaying her photo wearing Tohoshinki’s T-Shirt, she said “I watched the July 4th concert, and I was really impressed.”

“The voice, dance, and MC part, they did it all completely.

Suzuki Nae was belonged to 48, splitted group from AKB48. She’s a Japan idol who recently has been enjoying limelight and big popularity. Right now Suzuki is preparing for her solo debut after leaving AKB48.

DBSK’s Fancafes Swept The Fan Cafe Top Ranking

A chart which aims to measure the popular members in each male group has been running on line.

The chart shows the popularity position of internet cafe of individual member in groups: 2 PM, 2 AM, TVXQ, SS501, Big Bang, Super Junior, and FT Island.

And all TVXQ’s five members’ fancafes have swept the top 5 on chart for domestic (South Korea) and Asia counts

More than 300,000 members joined Junsu fancafe, boasted his individual fancafe to be the first on chart. The second to have most members in his fancafe is Yoochun. Jaejoong followed behind, and continue with Yunho and Changmin.

In this chart, TVXQ successfully knocked down other local male group and gets its winning. TVXQ is the only group whose all 5 members get more than 200,000 people in each fancafe. Junsu and Yoochun hold 330,000 members and 310,000 members respectively. Both Jaejoong and Yunho get 230,000-ish members in each fancafe while Changmin holds 200,000.

G-Dragon of Big Bang which occupies 6th place get over 110,000 members

On top 10 the line up asides from 5 members of TVXQ and G-Dragon, there are Super Junior’s Heechul, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and SS501’s Hyeon Joong.

This chart aims to grade all fanclub’s recent most important member of each teen group and is up both in Daum and Naver which are the biggest portal site in South Korea.

Of course, netizens can not just connect the result of this chart directly to the scale of each group member’s popularity, as the number resulted is not released officially and the counting is not done physically (T/N: just an estimation). Even some fancafes’ members called the chart as an “absurd chart”.

Nevertheless, this popularity measurement chart still gathers a lot of netizens’ attention.

The uniqueness of this chart is to measure the popularity of each member and not the group. Especially to see the recent trend spreads, that there are many member solo activities being held.

One admin of a large fan club said, “Young generation nowadays tend to prefer individual activities of a member than in the group. Thus, it becomes so natural that idol group’s members also put their solo activities first above the group activities. There is recently a case that a fan of an individual member overwhelmed the group of his/her favorite member.”
