From the official staff, “He treats the staffs just like his own brothers and sisters, to the point that we forget that he’s actually a Korean pop stars, yet the round enthusiasts and cheers from fans all around Asia somehow realized us to the fact (that he’s indeed a hallyu star).

Yunho explained about his drama shoot experience, “I went back home after ended a very late night shooting, but magically by that time somehow I already wanted to go back to the shooting set again real soon.” he said. “Right now I’m almost certain that am already immersed in the character of Cha Bong-gun. [INFO + VIDEO] The Story Behind Shoyokoto

"Souyukoto" in Japanese is "That is what I mean."
"Syoyu" is soy sauce in Japanese.
"Syoyukoto" is the play of the word originally made by Japanese comedian Murakami.

"Doyukoto?" in Japanese means "What do you mean?"

Doyukoto? (What do you mean?)
Syoyukoto! (That's what I mean)

Therefore, the play on the words can be used anywhere and everywhere. :)

TVXQ fans are very persistent

Submission of petitions.

Yesterday afternoon at 1:30pm KST, a couple of TVXQ fans submitted a petition of a whopping 121,083 signatures to the Korean Human Right Commission in hopes to protect TVXQ's human rights.

“The exclusive contract between TVXQ and SM Entertainment is so unlawful and so violating of basic human rights that it is hard to believe that this is the contract between the nation’s best idol group and the nation’s best entertainment agency,” said the fans. “This contract shows the dark, sinister side of the Korean agency and is shocking the nation.”

On July 31st, Jaejoong, Micky and Junsu filed for the Exclusive Contract Validity Suspension and Provisional Disposition Request against SME, and the offline pertition was created in very speedy 6 days from August 12th to the 18th.

The dedicated fans finally commented, “We hope that they will be able to escape from this violation of human rights as quickly as possible and we hope that the National Human Rights Commission of Korea will help us protect the rights of TVXQ.”

[GQ September Issue] 'The Real TVXQ Was In Japan' CRITIQUES

TVXQ sings "I got you~ooo, Under my skin," and dances. When the buttons on the shirts that cling onto their bodies cannot handle their powerful moves and burst, U-Know Yunho's well-developed and chiseled pectoral muscles are shown. Fans from all over Korea, who may have had ill feelings towards the long stretch of Japanese activities, act as though the group had never left and stare at their TV and even go up to the TV screen and stroke it. I'm talking about the comeback stage of that happened after the album's release last December. Fans found something a little odd about TVXQ during this stage. Although the five members' faces were the same, it was as though their faces had been stuck on someone else's body. This was because of their 'muscles'.

TVXQ's thin and muscular bodies are completely different from SM Entertainment's preceding idol groups. The direction that the members of TVXQ are headed is being influenced by the Japanese activities they have been carefully and diligently doing. In Japan these days, their is a 'Hosomacho' or 'thin muscle' trend blazing through the nation. The biggest reason for this trend is because the majority of young Japanese women prefers the thin muscled hosomacho look over the heavily muscled gorimacho (gorilla macho) look.

What am I talking about? There are probably going to be some people who tell me that this trend has been around for a while with the majority of singers in Johnny's Entertainment and with the majority of males in Tokyo having a thin muscle body structure. But what they are talking more about skinny guys who look as though they have muscles because they are skinny, not the 'thin muscle' look. But to think that TVXQ is just one of the many hosomacho groups is a big mistake. This is because the popularity of Tohoshinki, as they call themselves in Japan, is so great and out of this world that it cannot be fully comprehended or understood in Korea.

If we divide the dominating Japanese male idol groups into three categories, the first would be 'role Lolita', groups comprised of pretty boys, the second would be 'Yankees', groups comprised of members who have a bad boy vibe to them, and the third would be the TVXQ style. The TVXQ style's popularity can be properly felt in Japan's host clubs. Koreans may connect the words host or hostess with adult clubs and see these words with a negative outlook, but to many young, handsome and popular college students in Japan, it is the most preferred part-time job.

Different from Korea's hosts, Japan's hosts serve only alcohol and there is a different term for those who provide sexual intercourse and they are called 'Urisen'. In these host clubs that can easily be found in Shinjuku's Gabukicho area, the pictures of the hosts in the clubs tell women what kind of style each host is. Before, most of the people in the pictures copied the style of Johnny's Entertainment's idol groups. But now, at least one or two hosts in every club very conspicuously copies the style of one of the members of TVXQ.

In this area, there was once a time where the most manly people were nabe (a girl dressed up as a guy or a trans gender female). with their thin, pretty bodies. But now many Japanese women are asking for the hosomacho style, men who are not only pretty, but are also manly, and who are not only skinny, but has muscles. The TVXQ wind is blowing through the clubs of Gabukicho.

Since many Korean idol groups are popular not only in Korea but all of Asia, many Koreans may think that TVXQ's popularity is similar to that of other celebrities. Shall we delve deeper to see just how popular TVXQ is in Japan? TVXQ's most recent Japanese single sold almost 200K copies in one week. This sets TVXQ with the second highest first week sales in their agency, Japan's biggest company Avex.

The only group above TVXQ is the 14-member group Exile, the group that received the highest award from the Japanese Record Association and the group that even creates big changes in society with their raging popularity. This means that TVXQ's first album sales beats that of the female leaders of Japanese pop, 'Amuro Namie'. 'Hamasaki Ayumi' and 'Koda Kumi'. This is a feat that not even popular star 'BoA' has achieved. These are the kind of top singers we can compare TVXQ to now.

But I am not basing their popularity on album sales only. TVXQ has set a huge record of being on Japan's representative music chart 'Oricon Chart' as 1st on weekly single sales six times already. Since the year 2000, the number of stars who have attempted to enter the Japanese market is enormous, with stars such as S.E.S, Sugar, Park Junghyun, Rain, Lee Soo Young, Se7en, SS501, Ryu Siwon, Park Yongha, Lee Byunghun, Yoonha, K, Sunmin, Big Bang and Super Junior.

But the only singers who have reached first on Oricon's weekly single charts are BoA (once) and TVXQ (six times). TVXQ also succeeded in being invited to hold two concerts in July at the Tokyo Dome which is considered the Dream Stage, even to Japanese singers. This has never been completed by any other Korean singer before.

But the Bible sends a message, "Prophets do not get respect from their homelands." For some odd reason, TVXQ's outstanding achievements do not seem to be reported or praised in Korea. Also, it is sad to see that TVXQ's success of almost selling 200K copies of their single was buried under the dispute between SM Entertainment and three members of TVXQ (Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu, YoungWoong Jaejoong) and the disbandment rumors that followed it.

They are not something something 'sama' (like Yonsama) who were washed ashore by the Hallyu Wave. No, they even asked all Japanese media agencies not to associate the word 'Hallyu' with them (even asking for news articles to be pulled down if the word was used in relation to them), to show that they wished to succeed with their own powers and were able to become widely known in Japan. TVXQ had to erase their nationality in order to gain the acceptance from the Japanese population.

The rumors of disbandment at the height of their popularity has become a hot topic of conversation in the Japanese music industry. Japanese media has been created a daily special to update everyone about what's happening in Korea with regards to TVXQ, and this has caused Avex's CEO to come forward and give an explanatory statement to clam the Japanese fans. He announced that TVXQ's Japanese activitees would continue regardless of what was happening in Korea and he decided to announce this himself. This has never happened before.

It seems as though the way Korean agencies set the income division when writing up the contract has surprised the people of Japan who are used to the Japanese agencies' way of working that gives monthly salaries that may change. Since the first official event TVXQ held after the disbandment rumors came out was in Japan and not Korea, the source of such rumors, with the Fireworks Festival Concert, the Japanese media was more vigilant when it came to reporting the issue than the Korean media.

Therefore, whether they wanted this or not, this case has opened TVXQ up to a wider fan base including the younger generation. YoungWoong Jaejoong, who is the most popular amongst the members in Japan, was even seen in a paparazzi scandal magazine that only extremely famous Japanese celebrities appear in.

Although the situation in Korea is a complete mess, TVXQ might be able to take one step further in their Japanese activities through this happening. But they must once more grab hold of their Korean fans. There are already rumors that the 'light fanbase'(a term often used in Korea to mean fans who support a group but constantly move between fandoms) is ready to embrace the new 6 member male idol group SM Entertainment is preparing.

As faithful as Korean fans are, they are also able to turn their backs on a singer very quickly. If even the fans who used to embrace them turn their backs on TVXQ, the group will become the prophets who are not respected in their homelands.

Japan-Korea Joint Drama Production Team to Aim Asian Market

The plan to create dramas by the Japan-Korea combination is in the works. The idea is that Eriko Kitagawa, Shizuka Oishi and Miho Nakazonoa, who are all top writers of Japanese drama scripts, are to write scripts casting Korean stars such as TVXQ. All seven parts have been already completed and after this autumn, they are to be aired sequentially in both countries.

By “mutual entry,” it deepens the interchange of the people concerned and it is said that the participating parties aim more drama market expansion in Asia in the near future.

There is also the expectation of “breakthrough” in the Korean television industry which has a high regulation for Japanese dramas that are being aired. (Editor: Yoshihiro Kita)

The Japan-Korea telecinema planning meeting was held with Jaejoong from TVXQ, an immensely popular group in Japan, and Korean star Chi Jini, who starred in the popular Korean drama (in Japan) “Oath of Changum” and many other popular stars attended. The seven parts of the dramas were created with help from Japanese scriptwriters. A preview starts in August at movie theaters in Seoul, Korea. These dramas will be aired on TV and shown in cinemas after this coming autumn.

Both the Japanese and Korean sides will assemble full force in Seoul in the middle of September, and there will be many promotional events. In Japan, Asahi National Broadcasting will be airing these dramas in the future.

Chief Director Shinnichi Ichikawa of the Association of Japanese Broadcast Writers called for this plan and seven Japanese scriptwriters wrote original pieces. The making of the scenes and the photography have been pushed forward from summer last year.

The “taste” of dramas and how productions are lead are considerably different in Japan and in Korea. Sin Hyontek, the chairsperson of Korea / Miwa Networks (in-charge of this production) described that “Koreans love dramas that are alive with tears and laughter. Japanese dramas have this depth that is internal.” Also, Korean production is faster than the Japanese.

There are such differences and in the production spot, it was said that the Japanese scriptwriters received Korean supervision and the actors encouraged each other a lot. Chief Director Ichikawa mentioned that “Scriptwriters do not change their scripts easily even if revision is ordered by a supervisor.” As a result of some of the “clash,” a new charm may have been born between Japan and Korea.

A Korean drama earned popularity in Japan for these past few years and there was the feeling of one-sided unfavourable balance of the trade. Chief Director Ichikawa said, “Korean directors are excellent and their sense of work is very good, too.” Japan must make a drama that is acceptable in the whole of Asia in the near future.Triggered by this plan, it is expected that the Japanese and Korean’s co-created drama will sell in the whole Asian market.

Fans File Petition for TVXQ

More than 120,000 fans of the K-pop idol group TVXQ, which is embroiled in legal battle against its agency, filed a collective petition with the human rights agency on Friday, judging a working contract made between three members of the group and their agency to be “unfair” and “inhumane.”

Three representatives of the fans visited the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Seoul and submitted the petition and a bulky package of papers with their signatures of support.

They said in a statement, “The contract banning TVXQ members from changing their agency for 13 years since their debut is the same as a life-long working contract, which is extremely disadvantageous to the singers.”

They claimed the period is far longer than that of other agencies. “Singers have the right to change their agency to one offering better conditions. Under the contract, however, they have no choice but to work with the present agency virtually until they retire. This is an infringement of human rights,” the statement said.

A NHRC spokesman told The Korea Times, “It will take at least three months to the complete investigation of the case.”

The controversy over the five-member group’s working contract touched off early this month after three of its members ― Micky, Xiah and Hero ― asked the Seoul Administrative Court to terminate the validity of their contract with their agency, SM Entertainment. The other two members, Max and U-Know, did not take part in the action.

According to the legal document filed, the agency prohibited their freedom as artists by claiming that the group’s and members’ activities belonged to the agency, requiring them to follow the agency’s demands to appear at certain performances and broadcasts, and to stay under the agency’s wing for 13 years.

Reports of dissension started circulating about a month ago.

The three members were said to have conflicting interests with SM regarding their private business endeavors in the makeup industry. Max and U-Know, meanwhile, had been busy pursuing individual acting careers in TV soaps in addition to their work with the group.

This raised concern among fans about the group’s potential breakup. Despite the rumor of internal conflicts, the five singers appeared all together, as planned, at a concern in Japan early this month.

SM said, “TVXQ is a group that represents Asia and we believe that their career should continue. We hope to figure things out soon.”

TVXQ debuted in 2004 with the album “Hug” and shot to stardom in Korea, Japan and other parts of Asia. Their subsequent albums were well received and their fourth album, “Mirotic,” released last year, sold 500,000 copies here despite sluggishness in the Korean record market.

CREBEAU representative said, “The problem that is filed by 3 members who are also investors in our company is something to do with the unfair distribution income and to terminate the exclusive contract effect. However, SM keeps distorting the essence of the issue by saying that the main reason of their lawsuit is related to the cosmetic company. SM x DBSK Lawsuit: “Will The Evidences Application be Accepted?

source: diodeo + newsen
summarized by: sharingyoochun@wordpress

As had been reported, besides the provisional disposition to terminate exclusive contract effect, 3 members of DBSK namely Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu also submitted Preservation of Evidence request so that they could calculate the exact amount of their income.

However, in the first hearing held on last August 21st, SM responded regarding the Preservation of Evidence request, “This immediate appeal for Preservation of Evidence can’t be executed.” SM expressed disapproval regarding the submission request. The company explained that DBSK income receipts along with other documents and materials needed for this settlement is company’s trade secret. And if they’re to be exposed to the media, it can lead to fatal effect.

Regarding the problem, the court described an “in camera” system to invalidate SM’s claim of a fatal risk. The “in camera” system is the process in which the viewers of the evidences are to selected/limited number of people only. Because of this, DBSK’s payment issue can be resolved and the current conflict can be raised.

SM officials therefore approved the DBSK’s ‘Preservation of Evidences application’ and the submission deadline is tomorrow, August 26th.

The court judgment whether SM’s application is received as valid evidences or not is to be determined on Friday, August 28th.

Meanwhile, on the same day (August 28th), DBSK fanclub Cassiopeia is showing support to their idol by submitting petition which is signed by approximately 121,073 people at 1:30 p.m to National Human Rights Commission. “DBSK members have been victims of serious human rights violation and now are seeking way to escape from it. We asked the help from National Human Rights Commission to give human rights protection for DBSK members through their court hearing.”

On last August 20th, Cassiopeia had already submitted their petition which was already signed on-line by 120,000 people from August 12th to 18th (six days) to Seoul Central District Court to support the terminate of unfair contract.

Yunho’s fans send ‘Heading to the Ground’ team a gift

Yunho U-Know's fans have outdone themselves by trying to prove that they are mature fans. At the site of the shoot for "Heading to the Ground (Without Preparation)", they apparently try their best to not get in the way of the staff and even taking photos is restricted so that people might not be distracted. The fans are at the site without fail to cheer Yunho on and always bring snacks and food for everyone to eat during breaks and through nighttime shoots.

During long nighttime shoots, they prepare food that will help them recover from fatigue and drinks with lots of vitamins for the entire staff. In fact, they even prepared 120 servings of samgaetang (a Korean dish that is known to be very healthy) for the tired staff. The producers mentioned "This is something we haven't experienced before so we were a bit unsure of what was going on, but now we feel very thankful toward the fans."

It seems like despite the hardships TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki is going through, Yunho's fans haven't stopped supporting him.

Ayumi Hamasaki becoming a fan girl of TVXQ?

Ayumi Hamasaki, one of the most popular JPOP artists in Japan might be becoming a fan girl of TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki. She wrote on her blog that despite being under the same label, Avex, she just recently discovered their beautiful voices and became a fan. Specifically TVXQ's A-Nation performance at Ehime. She also posted photos of herself waving a green towel and wear a Tohoshinki shirt in support of them.

“…Chon-san (nickname Ayumi Hamasaki made for herself) went to go watch Tohoshinki’s performance in very very high spirits today. But… Due to a mistake in planning, when I went, they were already on their last song.

So there I am, wearing my Tohoshinki t-shirt, wearing a Tohoshinki towel on my neck, holding a Tohoshinki fan, I’m all totally ready… But tomorrow, I shall have my revenge!”

“…To those asking ‘Why were you holding a Tohoshinki towel?’… I’M A FAN!♪ They have beautiful singing voices, I fell in love with them in Ehime~.”

‘Heading To The Ground’ Jung Yunho, Shows His Passion For Acting, Barefoot

Jung Yunho, who plays Cha Bong-goon in MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Heading to the Ground’ (Script by Kim Solji, Kim Yaeri, Directed by Park Sungsoo), was seen pulling a snack stall in the rain barefoot and has been gaining a lot of attention for this.

He has already garnered a lot of attention for being cast in his first drama as TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho, but then gained more attention from the media when U-Know Yuno decided to work under his real name, Jung Yunho, for the drama.

In the still cut that was revealed, there are no traces of the U-Know Yunho everyone is used to with his charismatic stage presence. The sight of him completely drenched in rain makes him look exactly like a pitiful snack stall owner. In ‘Heading to the Ground’, Jung Yunho plays Cha Bong-goon, a youth with the spirit of a wild horse who has amazing shooting skills but suffers because of his rash personality, and holds onto life like a weed while overcoming near-death experiences multiple times. Because of this, Bong-goon walks the path of hardships and those everything from working part-time at a fried chicken store to running his own chicken skewer snack stall. He also give Haebin (Ara) his sneakers when her heel on her shoe breaks resulting in him running through the rain barefoot.

Jung Yunho, who has already worn a thick chicken suit in the middle of summer, has also had to pull a snack stall barefoot while evading the police. Even though the shooting was physically demanding, he never lost his smile and made everyone laugh on set. Although his feet were swollen from the continuous soccer practice he went through for the past couple of days, he had to run on the road barefoot and he did not complain about it. It seems as though this suffering of his feet is going to continue for a while.

PD Park Sungsoo who is directing this drama said, “If it weren’t for the fans who come to visit him, I wouldn’t have guessed that this was TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho. I didn’t know he’d work this hard,” and praised Jung Yunho very highly.

“The atmosphere of the venue was heated up, two Tohoshinki members performed in one color creating big stage. No wonder the tickets went up high at the auction sales site to ¥ 200,000.” he started the introduction. “But I think the visitors there would feel a little awkward with the wide hot response by Tohoshinki fans, yet they’re really creating a good excitement atmosphere.”

“From two members of Tohoshinki I received CD and also handshake. Yatta! Yatta! It’s a rare chance to meet them.” he continued, “I feel the great charm and they’re really someone whom you want to meet. Tohoshinki is getting more and more popular these days. [TRANS] What YG, Rain, Big Bang, Music Critics, PDs and Others Say About DBSK

The voice of Xiah Junsu is Asia’s treasure
-Matsuo Kiyoshi-

What people say about DBSK is that…
they are one of the few juniors who are polite and has good thoughts
-Comedian Jung Sun Hee-

DBSK is the singer with the best manners
-Show Music Tank PD-

(During an interview about Big Bang)
Oh! There is one singer that I admired as I watched them sing.
DBSK is really amazing,
They were singing a live performance and by watching them without a bias, they sing very well,
If they were ugly, they would be called men version of Big Mama.
Korean people have a preconception about DBSK and that is wrong.
-YG Entertainment Yang Hyun Suk-

We are a different genre so I don’t think we are rivals.
DBSK is a senior that we acknowledge.
Everyone sings well and I think they put in a lot of thoughts into their choreography and performances.
They continue to show self-improvement and are setting a good example as sunbae.
-Singer G-Dragon-

I saw Xiah Junsu sing ‘Resignation’ and it was the best.
A lot of singers sang my song but out of them all, it stood out the most and was sung very well.
-Big Mama-

-I sang a Goose’s Dream with Yongwong Jaejoong and he sang it the best.
He is an idol singer, so I thought he could not sing well because he is just good looking and dances well but he sings better than me.
-Insooni-

I think I would have really liked it if i was a DBSK member.
They are an unbelievably amazing group.
-Kim Gun Mo-

-When they are singing their songs, and in their divided parts, they know exactly how to sing their part in order to complete the song. They are perfectly divided well.
-Music Critic Jung Byung Gi-

Unless you are a fan who buys an album and listens to the whole thing, you do not realize how Yongwoong Jaejoong can sing octaves without effort, how much density Xiah Junsu has in his voice, and how great of a song ‘One’ is.
-Triple Crown Kang Myung Suk-

Their appearances are needed to capture attention.
That is the only way the dying music industry might be vitalized.
In that sense, there must be a lot of teams like DBSK in the industry. I’m not talking about just idol singers.
Groups like DBSK who can powerfully capture the mass audience’s attention is needed to revitalize the music industry.
-Tony An-

-Looking at junior singers these days, there are a lot of good looking juniors.
Out of all of them, I think DBSK is the best.
They seem to be fully prepared on stage.
-Singer Kim Dong Wan (Shinhwa)-

When looking at DBSK, I get the feeling that they are skilled.
Compared to before, they are so much better skill-wise.
Despite their skills, people have preconceptions, which is a problem and on stage their charisma is excellent.
They have other charms as well so there is a lot to be enviable about.
-Singer Evan-

DBSK is too good to remain as idol singers.
They can go further, as musicians to do well.
SM doesn’t just have idol singers.
Of the existing idols, they are the most skilled group.
As for Xiah Junsu and Youngwoong Jaejoong,
they can be called the best singers in the music industry without comparison.
DBSK is really a great group.
-Composer KENZI-

Choikang Changmin’s voice is very average.
But at times, the average excels many singers’ voices.
-Papa Nia-

(On Junsu) He takes care of everything about me before going on stage.
I think he is great and has a pure soul.
-Singer Jang Ri In-

-We feel envious and proud that DBSK succeeded in Japan.
-Singer Super Junior-

DBSK were candidates with us.
At first, we thought “what do we do~” “we are nothing~” when we were against DBSK
But when we saw DBSK cheering for us too, we felt the love at once between us singers.
Really, we felt very very thankful.
-Singer Tablo (Epik High)-

-It can’t be said that DBSK is the best vocalist in Korea.
However, it is undeniable that it is hard to see a group able to make a beautiful harmony with just five members’ voice.
This shows the possibility of a vocal group, not just celebrity like idol group.
This is the idol group after evolution in the 21st century.
-m.net 21c Artist-

I was impressed with DBSK when I saw them performing at the Great Hall of the People in China on July 2004.
It was a shock to see Chinese fans sending such passionate cheers. I feel pride that I am promoting Korean mass culture in foreign countries. I want to invite DBSK as models for fashion shows abroad. They have clear souls and pure qualities.
-Desinger Andre Kim-

Out of the singers that have sang my song, they have succeeded the most.
And they are also the first singers who fit my song so well.
-Composer Park Chang Hyun (DBSK 1st Single ‘Hug’ Composer)-

I like DBSK.
It is bit of an inconvenience that their chances to sing live are limited because of their strong choreography, but when I see their performance, I am drawn in.
-Singer Baek Ji Young-

-They are good young men.
In such positions, they greet well and are social.
They are always smiling and never shows fatigue.
Honestly, they are not very fluent in Japanese.
Even if they understand well, their speaking is not perfect.
Despite that, they really tried hard to do their interview in Japanese.
For words they didn’t know, the asked their managers before hand and took note of it.
They tried their best to speak well and I could feel their efforts.
They really try their best.
-DJ 古家正亨- (this is the Japanese character of his name. His last name is Masayuki (?) but I can’t really type his first name. >< Maybe someone who knows Japanese better can do his name?)

Even in the hard market right now, their influence in the music industry should be recognized.
The music industry is going through hardships and in this situation, there was almost no singers who sold a lot of albums.
But DBSK is unchallenged and has the powers to sell their albums.
They do have a lot of teenage fans but recently, I think their fanbase has broadened to 20-30s.
As the teenage fans get older, the average age of their fan base will broaden.
Idol groups definitely go through evolution.
They have both singing and dancing skills so they need to be recognized.
-Singer Na Sung Ho (Noel)-

It is a good feeling that the younger generation singers are singing my songs.
If DBSK remakes my song, it will have a different color.
Even though the color will be different, I think they will be able to make a better song.
-Singer Jo Kwan Woo-

DBSK is just before perfection.
They are the hottest trend going through various rumors and is a popular culture icon. When they become this era’s new classic, we want to meet them again, more fashionable and fabulous. It won’t be too late to complete the ‘work’ then.
-In December issue of VOGUE-

I listen to music.
I like rock ballad and hip hop.
As for singers, DBSK is the best.
-Volleyball athlete Kim Yeon Kyung-

-The reason why there is so much interest in DBSK is because unlike most of the kid groups, their singing abilities are excellent. All five members sing and unexpectedly, presents a good harmony. It breaks the bias that boy bands cannot sing. This is what separates other idol groups and DBSK.
-Music critic Im Jin Mo-

Just at first glance, I could feel the strong charisma that made me realize why they become the millennium star.
The composition of the five members, like the process of moving one picture, cannot be complete without the 5 members.
I was surprised that the 5 stars, placed as one pleases, created such harmony.
Truthfully, taking a group photograph is exponentially hard as the number of people.
So during group photography, positions change and styles are frequently switched.
But in DBSK’s case, an impressive style was expressed just by them randomly standing and sitting there.
-Photographer Jo Se Hyun-

You should judge them by how much they love music and stop focusing on “lip synching idol stars winning awards.”
And this year was the year that DBSK had to win.
Why keep denying it and how many albums did they sell… 300,000?
Even when the music industry is reduced, they sold 300,000. That is praiseworthy.
Do you know anybody who we call artists that sell over 50,000?
And does the broadcasting stations buy those albums for the artists?
Did the broadcasting station buy 300,000 copies of DBSK’s album?
Then, did you buy the albums of artists that you cheer for?
Starting from there, saying “how does idol stars who lip sync win an award” is useless.
Do you think that these days, just like those old days, the idols run away by lip sync because they can’t sing?
Just open the microphone and tell them to sing. They do well, very~
-Shin Hae Chul-

Before you curse on the young singers who dance and roll around, think about how many hours they invest into practicing to perform to the mass.
Just like how natural-born talented artists dig only one hole, they sweat in order to improve themselves.
Therefore, the older generation singers are wretched for criticizing these singers for their music perfection.
If they receive reverence as a musician for these criticisms, the value of it is nothing.
-From Bestiz, who.au-

-The rumors that the five members were supposed to lead five different teams due to their excellent skills, but due to financial pressure, was put in one team, doesn’t seem totally false.
The harmony that the five sing are solid and constant.
-IZM-

Thank you DBSK fans.
DBSK and Kang Ho Dong is close, it’s the truth really.
-Kang Ho Dong-

I feel envious of DBSK for their teenage fans.
When DBSK performance ends, the teenage fans follow their van or wait in front of their company.
But when I am done with a performance, my fans say, “Ji Hoon, great job.”
Park Jin Young hyung once asked me why I don’t have teenage fans.
-Singer Rain-

These kids were wasted. They are all worthy to be solo artists, but formed a group.
-SM Director Lee Soo Man-

Even though it must be hard because so many people recognize them, they always come to greet when we are on the same program. It must be hard to just move around. When they reach the top, at least one hardship comes, but I hope they will get over it well.
-Singer The One-

Lee Minwoo Speaks Up on TVXQ

It seems like Cassiopeians aren't the only ones greatly affected by the TVXQ lawsuit controversy these days; KARA's Nicole has revealed her displeasure, and now Lee Minwoo of the legendary Shinwha (previously part of SM Entertainment, interestingly enough) has voiced his opinion on the matter. In a recent magazine interview, he expressed his recognition and respect for TVXQ, and that each member had deep feelings for the group; a few months ago, TVXQ had a chat with him about problems in life. "Backstage, they would hold each others' hands and pray, say good luck; the way they cheer each other on is very similar to [Shinwha]. Because they are a group which has very good team spirit, I believe in TVXQ."

The singer went on to give DBSK a message, "My dear younger brothers, TVXQ does not just belong to TVXQ. Don't think too much and over-complicate things; just keep thinking about your fans who have spent precious times with you and who have always protected you. I hope that all of you can steadfastly protect the proud name of TVXQ. You definitely can't disband, Hyung is counting on you. After the current issue is resolved, the 11 of us should go out and have fun."

U-Know Yunho, “I Feel Good About Our First Filming For The Drama

TVXQ member U-Know Yunho, who will be acting under his real name Jung Yunho, shared his feelings about his first drama shoot.

Jung Yunho immersed himself in filming for MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Heading to the Ground’ where he plays the role of Cha Bong-goon, a man who has nothing except a goal and passion.

On July 28th, Jung Yunho began filming for the first episode at Gangnam Sangsoo-dong by acting as Cha Bong-goon talking with his neighborhood, long-time friend Oh Yeoni (Lee Yoonji). Jung Yunho checked and refined each and every one of his actions and lines and practiced his lines every chance he had. He showed his passion eagerness for his role by asking the staff whether his interpretation of the character was fitting.

Bong-goon is a character who has a playful and ever-changing personality. During this particular filming, Bong-goon’s character required many facial expressions such as suddenly smiling for no reason or scrunching one’s face up in anger. Jung Yunho, who acted out each expression naturally, said, “Bong-goong’s character has the best personality,” and asked the staff questions such as, “Was my scene funny? Did it come out well?” and showed his satisfaction for a successful first shoot that ended in a comfortable and fun atmosphere.

Jung Yunho, who said he had to work out very hard for his role, said, “I’m having so much fun playing the character of Cha Bong-goon I feel good about the first filming for our drama.”

‘Heading to the Ground’ is a love story that results from the misunderstandings that arise between passionate yet unlucky Bong-goon and Kang Haebin (played by Ara), a girl who has everything but wishes to succeed on her own. It is also a Humanism drama that touches upon Cha Bong-goon’s will to live even though he had lived through three near-death experiences. The first episode airs on September 9th.

DBSK fans submit petition with 120K signatures against SM’s ‘Unjust contract terms’

Fans of group Dong Bang Shin Ki are fuming with anger. The first hearing for the 3 Dong Bang Shin Ki members Xiah JunSu, Micky YooChun and Hero JaeJoong on their lawsuit against SM Entertainment to retract the exclusive belonging contract effects will be held on 21st August.

And a fan who operates Dong Bang Shin Ki fan community site DSite submitted a petition signed by 120K people opposing SM’s ‘Unjust contract’ on 20th August at the Seoul Central Court.

The petition, consisting of 12 books, contains the signature of 121,073 fans from offline and online, and it also includes the activity schedule of Dong Bang Shin Ki from when they debuted in 2003 all the way to 2009.

Meanwhile, the group’s fans also posted up advertisements on newspaper about the case:

"What is your work environment like?

1. You must work for at least 13 years
2. You must work 7 days a week of every month of every year
3. Someone else is in charge of your entire income. It is impossible to negotiate on your income
4. All of your schedules and business aims are handled by your office
5. If you do not work for 13 years, you must pay hundreds of billions of Won in compensation
6. If you cannot work for a time due to personal reasons, the term of your contract is lengthened

*At the bottom, flipped upside down*
1~2 Y: You are in no danger. Earn a lot of money
3~5 Y: You may want to consider changing jobs
6 Y: You are TVXQ.

They are worn out emotionally and physically because they have been doing anything and everything their agency has been telling them to do for the past five years.

They have asked numerous times for a reevaluation and revision of their unlawful contract, but their agency does not listen to their pleas.

The term for TVXQ’s exclusive contract is 13 years.
If they decide to cancel their contract during that time, they must pay thrice the amount of investments, and twice the amount of money they would have earned during the entire term of the contract for compensation.

This applies even when the contract is canceled after negotiations with the agency.

-Clause 2 Sub clause 1, Clause 11 Sub clause 2, 3 of TVXQ’s contract

This is the reality that TVXQ faces.
All they want to do is fix it. "

Courts Urge For A 'Mutual Agreement' For The TVXQ Dispute

Popular group TVXQ's three members asked for a suspension of their exclusive contract against SM Entertainment and the first hearing occurred on the 21st.

Seoul District Court's Judge Park Byungdae, after listening to both sides, said, "We think the best way to solve this dispute is for the two sides come to a mutual agreement, when we put the responsibility for biggest fan club in the world and the relationship with the other two members into consideration."

The judge stated, "If both side would like to set a settlement date that will not be open to the public, that can be arranged," and urged both sides to come to a mutual agreement.

The Courts agreed to both sides' wishes of ending this dispute early on and will come to a decision after examining all the related materials handed in on September 11th which is 3 weeks after this first hearing.

The lawyer representing the three members said, "They do not want a disbandment of TVXQ," and "There are cases where teams stay together even if the members are in different agencies."

Also, when the Courts asked whether they wanted a 'cancellation of their contract' or a 'revision of their contract', the lawyer replied, "It depends on how competent SM Entertainment will be to support TVXQ's transition from an idol group to a more mature artist group," and "The opportunities are endless."

SM Entertainment's lawyer said, "Although the three members who filed this lawsuit are not having their right violated, the agency is losing a lot of money due to this trial so we wish for it to end quickly and for TVXQ to start their activities again," and "The only reason SME asked the three members to not participate in the Chinese cosmetic company branch was because the agency feared that TVXQ's image might be damaged in some way; the agency had no other intentions."

The Courts said, "As long as this lawsuit has been filed, please refrain from talking about or attack the other side through the media."

TVXQ's three out of five members, Xiah Junsu (Kim Junsu), YoungWoong Jaejoong, (Kim Jaejoong) and Micky Yoochun (Park Yoochun), stated that "Our 13 year exclusive contract can basically be seen as a life contract, and we did not receive proper treatment from SME in many aspects such as income division," and filed their lawsuit on July 31st.
